UPDATE:
Starz sold as a cria to a wonderful lady in Oak Harbor. Starz' dam (on right), Castalia's Countess Honeypie, had a Bauernheim's Firedancer in daughter, named Castalia's Honeyfire, in 2001 and an Embarcadero daughter (just born here) in 2005!

DBLR Magical Starz * 5-24-00
31 Pounds at birth at 5:45 PM* 351 Day Gestation * IgG over 3000 at 18 hours old
Sire: Magical Bounce 152197 * Dam: Castalia's Countess Honeypie 176710

This is Starz at 3 days old. She is a very tall, solid gal, but at 3 days she wasn't all "unbent" from being cramped inside her dam. She is very straight now. She's gained a pound per day and is a healthy, happy cria.

She is very woolly, but she has curly fiber so it won't look long until she's older and the weight of it pulls it downward.

Starz' dam is my sweet Pie. This is Pie right after she was shorn.

Red Barn Llamas purchased Starz' sire, Magical Bounce (dob 2-28-94 * ilr 152197 * Class' Irish Spring X Mercedes) from Barbara Bergen of Double B Ranch in September of 2001. This colorful appy has wonderful, silken fiber and LOTS of it, a gentle temperment and he knows what the girls are all about! He has had several babies, two were appies and all have been heavy wool with very sweet dispositions. Here is a head photo taken right after he was shorn, and a head shot with grow-out after shearing.

All of these photos are at 3 days old. Hopefully I'll get more developed soon. This is her kushed. I couldn't get a close-up of her fiber, but if you split it so you can see the architecture, it is in spiral curls. She looks like she just got a perm.

In spite of both of her parents having appy spots, Starz is mostly lustrous white. She has black eyeliner (shows off her long white eyelashes), grey on her nose and mouth, a champagne colored tail, and one appy spot not far from her tail. We usually call one spot like that a "kiss spot", but I'm not sure that will apply to Starz considering where her spot is located.

I imagine with a name like Starz you'd expect her to have spots like stars, but she has stars in her eyes and a spirit as big as the sky. Everything is a wonder to her. The same day these photos were taken she followed a blue butterfly very carefully, and merrily chased a crow that landed about 10 feet away from her. She also comes up to give me kisses, then runs off to play.

Starz' buddy is Castalia's Silver Lining, better known as Cassie. Cassie is 2½ months old here. She was born March 13th at 23 lbs, with an IgG of 1550 at 24 hours. She may look white in this photo, but she's actually a pale golden color with the red markings on her forehead, and darker golden-tan legs and tail. When she was born, all the golden colors were grays. She is very solid like her dam. She'll is short/medium wooled, with "clean" legs as an adult. More of a "classic".

She is very sweet and quite mischievous and a permanent fixure at Castalia. I don't want her bred as her dam jumped a fence and "consorted" with her nephew. Although Cassie doesn't seem to have any problems, I think that is too closely related to safely use her as breeding stock. I know others disagree, but I'm standing firm on that, and Cassie will be a non-breeder.
