Goddess of the Dark

Valley of Life
or
Why Men Fear the Dark

Some men know, some suspect, some admit, some deny, but all men fear the dark. It's the secret they seek, the the rain they thirst for, the void they can't control. So she teases like a wanton whisper and drives them to the seas and skies, yet she evades their attempts to own her, as does the moaning earth beneath their feet.

The dark belongs to Woman. It is the place she turns the base gold of men's dreams into spirit, light and majik. She brings forth life from the void. And for this sacred offering she has been called names more vile than should cross lips. She has been beaten, raped, imprisoned, mutilated and murdered. And less often, but just as falsely, placed upon pedestals of lonliness and denied the taste of earthy rapture.

Men equate the dark with death because the void encompasses where they sprang from and where they will return. They have no power there, except to accept the unknowable, as Woman has always done.

I've been told some men accept the void, the unknowing, the dark and Woman as Goddess of that realm, but I've yet to meet one of them. I've met many who speak the words, but their fear is real and walks like a panther, stalking power they can't possess.

Images and stories are my property. You're welcome to link to my pages, but change not one word, nor copy the images. If you are foolish enough to do otherwise a curse will come upon you and the wrath of centuries of majikal beings will warp your computer, your life and your future in ways too ugly to repeat.
