Emmanuel Episcopal Church, on Orcas Island,
was built in 1885. It was here that Lutherans officially formed the Lutheran Church in the San Juans, and have been worshipping since 1975. Early during our time at Emmanuel, Catholics and Presbyterians also worshipped at Emmanuel — quite an ecumenical place. For a time there was a joint newsletter called LARC— (Lutherans, Anglicans & Roman Catholics).
