Friends and Neighbors

We are island volunteers receiving client referrals through Senior Services who see a need for home support which is practical and social but not medically directed. Twenty-five or so of us assist those who are isolated, lonely or disabled and who do not have family or close neighbors to help them.

Friends and Neighbors will: Friends and Neighbors do not:

Come to visit you Accept payment or reimbursement

Drive you on errands Help with your financial affairs

Help with your hobbies Recommend medications or treatment

Read aloud Help you take medications

Play games Assist with personal care or hair care

Make Cookies Transfer a client to a chair or bed

Take walks Enter where drugs, alcohol or firearms

may be misused.

Take pets to the vet
