Transportation and Trips

Need a ride to Senior Lunch and shopping in Friday Harbor or to the post office?  On Monday and Thursday our volunteer van drivers will pick you up at home for lunch or other errands and take you home afterward.  ($2.00 suggested round-trip fee).  Call to request a ride before 10:00 AM on lunch days.

At least twice monthly on Tuesdays, there are trips scheduled to the Mt.  Vernon and Bellingham areas so schedule your medical appointments on those days and make a reservation by calling our Senior Center.  Seats are available on these trips for other errands and shopping as time allows.  There are charges to go on each trip ($14-20 round trip) but less than the full cost of operating the vehicles.

Why drive if you don’t need to?  Keeping up your car costs at least $2,000 annually for insurance, fuel and maintenance.  Eliminating that expense will allow you to afford lots of immediate-need taxi fares and the Senior Center can help get you to planned events.

Additional recreational trips are offered by the Travel Committee at least monthly so watch for them and make reservations early to hold your place.  Contact Athlene Schneider or Bonnie with suggested destinations for future trips.  Check the Senior Signal for the current offerings.

Friends and Neighbors volunteers may help you run errands or get to appointments on days when there is no senior van driver so call Curt at 378-2677 to find out more.
