Our Lady of the Rock was instrumental in bringing white Cotswolds to the
Pacific Northwest before 1990. This breed has gone from the endangered
list to the "watch list" by the American Livestock Breed Conversancy. We decided to specialize in the Black (Colored) Cotswolds, which is basically an American breed. The fiber on these animals has to be seen to be believed!
It has a high silver to black sheen. Often three or four colors can be found in one
fleece, which is ideal for hand spinners.
We have had virtually NO vet
bills with this breed. They are a friendly, hardy, breed with long
dreadlocks. They are very self-sustaining and need no special grains. The
flock at OLR is out on forage nine months of the year.
Our flock has won many awards including at the National level. We sell
breeding stock as well as fiber.
Please contact us for fiber or fleeces, or breeding stock to begin your own flock of these rare sheep, or add new blood lines to your current flock.
