 PROJECT NATURECONNECT
Environmentally sound personal growth and social justice

"In learning how to think with nature is the salvation of our sanity and Earth.

Because we are stressfully disconnected from nature's sensory rewards, we psychologically bond to destructive gratifications.

Genuinely reconnecting our thinking with nature replaces our destructive bonds with constructive passions."

- Dr. Michael J. Cohen, Project Director

Homepage Site Directory

Thank you for choosing to visit our site and your interest in promoting personal and global balance.

Have you ever spent quality time in nature, moments when you loved the grandeur of a mountain, a wonderous tree or the freedom of the wind?

Have the spectacle of fall colors, sunlit clouds or a blanket of stars ever brought you joy?

The captivating enchantment in these moments is our Earth bequeathed inheritance.

Without a teacher, class or book, connections with nature, of themselves, help us feel wonderfully, wholly alive. This is because these sensory connections reunite our thinking and psyche with their biological mother, Earth. We feel a deep unity as nature nurtures its sensory self within us, the part of us we have learned to call our "inner child."

Seven Vital Concepts for Personal and Global Balance:

1. Challenge: Our excessively nature separated society does not teach us to respect the benefits of reconnecting with nature. Instead, it inadvertantly programs us to demean our inherent connectedness. We learn that nature's contributions to our psyche are "flakey," or childish. We hear they are: environmentalism, escapes from reality, spirituality, recreation not re-creation. To our loss, sentiently connecting with authentic nature outside the classroom is rarely part of our thinking or a school curriculum.

2. Response: To our benefit, we can learn to personally enjoy and teach sensory nature reconnecting experiences. If we trust them, our good experiences in nature show that they psychologically plug us into nature's intelligence, balance and beauty within and around us. Safely, they let nature energize into our consciousness our suppressed inner self and its balanced intelligence. We enjoy the vibrance of our life in its natural state. We nurture our innate tribal capacity to love ourselves, each other, and Earth, as of old.

Backyard or backcountry, when scientifically sought and supported, the restored love that we sense when we reconnect with nature has shown to improve our thinking, feeling and relationships.

3. Cause: Tragically, society teaches us to spend, on average, less than .00002% of our lives in conscious sensory contact with nature. The stress and hurt of our estrangement from the supportive womb of life has shown to underlie much of our destructive thinking and relationships. This helps explain why learning how to feelingly reconnect with nature has proven to psychologically reverse many personal and environmental dilemmas.

4. A missing link Through this web site, learn, enjoy and teach the art of the Natural Systems Thinking Process, a potent, nature connected psychology. The Process scientifically enables us to let nature itself rejuvenate the intelligence, energies and joys of nature within us. This empowers us to think, feel and relate in balanced ways, like nature works.

5. Results: Consider the benefits reported by people using the Process. Select those that feel important to you. You can achieve them for yourself and teach them to others if your thinking allows you to learn the process that helps you instill them.

6. Choices: During childhood, we psychologically bond to the way we learn to think. It shapes the destiny of our lives and Earth.

What do you think?

Can you trust the value of your restored good feelings, energies and experiences while in connection with nature?

Were they not real and nurturing? Didn't they improve your life for a moment and your respect for the environment? You, no doubt, are not willing to have somebody take away from you these good experiences in nature.....they have value.

If you know this is true and you don't make such experiences part of your daily life, you are somehow choosing not to take nature's potent medicine for improving yourself and our endangered planet.

7. Act: Have you become bonded to a limited or unrewarding way of life that keeps you disconnected from nature's nurturance. If so, try this activity. Discover if it helps you un-bond yourself by rejuvenating your natural senses.

Wouldn't your life and the environment improve if you related to
the world with the responsible resiliance and joy of constantly
feeling connected to nature?
