fOREST iNFO is concerned with the forests of San Juan County, Washington. It strives to decipher their uncommon characteristics and stewardship requirements. It recognizes the incomparable influences upon our forests of geology, glaciation, insularity, soil hydrology, and climate - and of the human activities that are now redirecting natural processes. Through historical studies, it explores former forest conditions for clues to future limitations and potentialities.

fOREST iNFO urges residents to adopt more enlightened relations with our overlooked and misunderstood forests. In this county of forested islands the shoreline is romanticized while the privately-owned forests that comprise 60% of the land area suffer neglect and unsupervised high-grade logging. These forests deserve better understanding and care.

fOREST iNFO is produced as a private hobby and is offered as a public service. It derives no support from any organization, agency, or commercial enterprise.
